0959 ET – Expect gold to wane further from its recent $2,589 record in the coming days if the Federal Reserve kicks off its easing cycle with a 25 basis point interest rate cut, which is the major view of forecasters, TD Securities’ Bart Melek suggests. 0840 ET – Shares in BASF are trading higher after Bloomberg reported the German company plans to outline a potential listing of its agricultural-chemicals division at an investor update scheduled for next week. BASF could also open the door to a sale or the entry of partners for parts of its coatings division and outline plans for its battery-materials business, with proceeds from any asset sales used to strengthen its balance sheet, Bloomberg reports, citing unnamed sources.
