AirBoss of America Corp. (TSE:BOS) Consensus Forecasts Have Become A Little Darker Since Its Latest Report

In this article:

The analysts might have been a bit too bullish on AirBoss of America Corp. (TSE:BOS), given that the company fell short of expectations when it released its quarterly results last week. It was a pretty negative result overall, with revenues of US$95m missing analyst predictions by 9.9%. Worse, the business reported a statutory loss of US$0.35 per share, much larger than the analysts had forecast prior to the result. The analysts typically update their forecasts at each earnings report, and we can judge from their estimates whether their view of the company has changed or if there are any new concerns to be aware of. With this in mind, we've gathered the latest statutory forecasts to see what the analysts are expecting for next year.

Following last week's earnings report, AirBoss of America's three analysts are forecasting 2024 revenues to be US$399.4m, approximately in line with the last 12 months. Losses are predicted to fall substantially, shrinking 74% to US$0.52. Yet prior to the latest earnings, the analysts had been forecasting revenues of US$437.8m and losses of US$0.21 per share in 2024. While this year's revenue estimates dropped there was also a very substantial increase in loss per share expectations, suggesting the consensus has a bit of a mixed view on the stock.

There was no major change to the consensus price target of CA$6.01, signalling that the business is performing roughly in line with expectations, despite lower earnings per share forecasts. That's not the only conclusion we can draw from this data however, as some investors also like to consider the spread in estimates when evaluating analyst price targets. Currently, the most bullish analyst values AirBoss of America at CA$7.50 per share, while the most bearish prices it at CA$5.01. This shows there is still a bit of diversity in estimates, but analysts don't appear to be totally split on the stock as though it might be a success or failure situation.

These estimates are interesting, but it can be useful to paint some more broad strokes when seeing how forecasts compare, both to the AirBoss of America's past performance and to peers in the same industry. We would highlight that AirBoss of America's revenue growth is expected to slow, with the forecast 2.9% annualised growth rate until the end of 2024 being well below the historical 4.7% p.a. growth over the last five years. Compare this against other companies (with analyst forecasts) in the industry, which are in aggregate expected to see revenue growth of 3.9% annually. So it's pretty clear that, while revenue growth is expected to slow down, the wider industry is also expected to grow faster than AirBoss of America.

The Bottom Line

The most important thing to take away is that the analysts increased their loss per share estimates for next year. Unfortunately, they also downgraded their revenue estimates, and our data indicates underperformance compared to the wider industry. Even so, earnings per share are more important to the intrinsic value of the business. There was no real change to the consensus price target, suggesting that the intrinsic value of the business has not undergone any major changes with the latest estimates.

With that said, the long-term trajectory of the company's earnings is a lot more important than next year. We have estimates - from multiple AirBoss of America analysts - going out to 2026, and you can see them free on our platform here.
