BlackRock Rebrands ETFs to iShares, Expanding Product Line
BlackRock Inc. is set to rebrand its existing BlackRock active ETFs to iShares, with the change taking effect on Oct. 10.
The move, detailed in a recent Securities and Exchange Commission filing, will affect 22 out of 26 BlackRock-branded ETFs, integrating them into the company's family of 420 iShares ETF.
“To help clients better navigate BlackRock’s product offerings, we will be branding all our ETFs as iShares," a BlackRock spokesperson said in a statement.
The largest fund undergoing this transformation is the $9.8 billion BlackRock U.S. Equity Factor Rotation ETF (DYNF), soon to be known as the iShares U.S. Equity Factor Rotation Active ETF. This fund has been the best performer on the list, with a 22.1% increase over the past year.

iShares Expansion Reflects ETF Market Growth
New York-based BlackRock’s 26 ETFs currently manage over $25 billion in assets. They have attracted $11.6 billion over the last year, according to etf.com data.
The firm’s iShares unit, recognized as the world’s largest ETF issuer, saw investors pour $83 billion into its ETFs during the second quarter, a 24% increase from the first quarter.
BlackRock, also the world’s biggest asset manager, reported that total assets climbed to 10.7 trillion, with ETFs through the year’s first half pulling in $150 billion.
The rebranding comes as Vanguard Group challenges BlackRock’s position as the world’s largest ETF issuer. Malvern, Penn.-based Vanguard holds $2.68 trillion in 86 ETFs in the U.S. and brought in $153.4 billion over the last year, while the $2.88 trillion iShares has attracted $137.9 billion in the same period, according to etf.com data.
The growth race between the two firms is evident in their flagship funds: The $475 billion Vanguard 500 Index Fund (VOO) has gained $54.4 billion this year, while the $491 billion iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV) has added $41.4 billion.
