NEW YORK, August 06, 2024--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Trey Yingst has been promoted to chief foreign correspondent, announced FOX News Media CEO Suzanne Scott. In this position, Yingst will continue to provide coverage of international issues and events from locations around the globe. Additionally, Yingst was tapped as FOX News Books’ newest author, penning their 12th title "Black Saturday," a gripping, firsthand account of the October 7, 2023 terrorist attack in Israel and now ongoing war that it started in Gaza.
In making the announcement, Scott said, "During major breaking news in every corner of the world, Trey has been the eyes and ears on the ground for our viewers since 2018. Trey’s indefatigable work ethic and dedication in multiple war zones has made him an incredible asset to FOX News and we are extremely proud of his first-class journalism."
Yingst added, "I’m honored by the incredible opportunities that FOX News has afforded me throughout my journalism career. Our team arrived in southern Israel on the morning of October 7th as the massacre was unfolding and ‘Black Saturday’ plunges the reader into that day while exposing the realities of war told by Israelis and Palestinians. I plan to continue reporting on critical breaking news developments around the world and covering the human experience firsthand. I’m passionate about the work we do and look forward to many more years of traveling and reporting around the world."
Publishing on Tuesday, October 1st, "Black Saturday" combines candor, grit, and veracity, as Yingst paints a vivid picture of horrors and violence, matched by acts of courage and humanity that cut through the darkness on the morning of October 7th. A testament to unwavering resilience, this book is a chronicle of Yingst’s experience in relentlessly pursuing the truth throughout the complicated conflict between Israel and Hamas. It includes interviews with released hostages, Israeli soldiers and Palestinian civilians, in addition to Israeli and Hamas leadership. The title marks the 12th for the imprint and follows back-to-back national bestsellers with nearly 3 million copies sold to date.
Based in Jerusalem, Yingst was the first U.S. reporter on the scene on October 7th, 2023, following Hamas’ attacks on Israel and continues to lead FNC’s coverage surrounding the Israel-Hamas war from the region. Previously, he provided nonstop coverage of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine from the ground in Kyiv and the eastern frontlines, reported on the 2021 withdrawal of U.S. troops from Kabul, Afghanistan and has broken multiple international stories from the Middle East, among other global news stories. He has also embedded with the Hamas’s Al-Qassam brigades and the Israeli military. Throughout his tenure, he has interviewed major heads of state and international newsmakers, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the leader of the Haqqani Terror Network Anas Haqqani, among others. He joined the network in 2018 as a foreign correspondent.
Named to Forbes 30 Under 30 and listed as one of AdWeek’s Young Influentials, Yingst received his bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from American University where he was a member of the White House Correspondents Association and the National Press Club. As a student, he co-founded News2Share, an online media outlet publishing stories and multimedia content from conflict zones.
