UK-based technology company Ocado has announced the expansion of its partnership with US grocery retailer Kroger.

Kroger will implement Ocado's advanced automated technologies across its customer fulfilment centres (CFCs).

The new technologies include Ocado's On-Grid Robotic Pick (OGRP) - a robotic arm that is installed directly on the grid - and its Automated Frameload (AFL).

They are designed to lower the cost of serving from CFCs and improve Kroger's market-leading customer proposition.

These enhancements are part of a broader trend, with global partners such as AEON in Japan also adopting Ocado's latest solutions to upgrade their distribution networks.

Ocado's technology is already in use within UK CFCs, where it is successfully picking a wide range of items.

When operating at full capacity, the OGRP technology can pick up 70% of an extensive online grocery range, demonstrating its potential impact on Kroger's operations.

The move enhances efficiency and labour productivity within Kroger's delivery network.
