Petrobras and TGS partner on energy sector research and tech development
Petrobras has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with TGS, an energy data and intelligence provider, to enhance scientific research and technological development in Brazil's energy sector.
The partnership will combine the expertise and resources of both entities to drive innovation in oil and gas exploration, production efficiency, renewable energy and carbon capture technologies.
The companies will focus on creating technological solutions to improve exploration and production operations.
Both companies will engage in scientific research to deepen the understanding of Brazil's sedimentary basins through analysis of geological and geophysical data.
A key aspect of this collaboration is the emphasis on sustainability, with the development of technologies that align with international efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
The MOU sets the stage for establishing joint working groups and initiating research and development projects in the near future.
This collaboration is expected to lead to advancements in energy production that are both efficient and sustainable, positioning Brazil as a leader in energy innovation.
TGS CEO Kristian Johansen said: “We are honoured to work alongside Petrobras on such important technical initiatives. The combination of our expertise in data acquisition and processing combined with Petrobras's operational capabilities promises to deliver significant results for the Brazilian energy industry.”
Petrobras executive exploration manager Jonilton Pessoa said: “This partnership with TGS Brazil reflects our ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainability. We are excited to collaborate with a company that shares our vision of a more efficient and sustainable energy future.”
Last month, Petrobras formed a partnership with Slovakian drilling technology company GA Drilling.
This collaboration, involving Petrobras's research and innovation centre, Cenpes, aims to develop an advanced downhole drilling system to enhance well construction.
