Through Qualcomm's Snapdragon Digital Chassis and Google's Android Automotive operating system, both Qualcomm (QCOM, Financials) and Google (GOOG, Financials) are extending their collaboration to include artificial intelligence into automobiles. On Tuesday, the firms announced the alliance at Qualcomm's Snapdragon Summit 2024 in Maui.

Through voice assistants, improved navigation experiences, and real-time updates predicting driver demands, the cooperation will help cars to provide AI-powered features. First manufacturers to use this technology will be Mercedes Benz and Li Auto from China.

According to Qualcomm, the technology will enable integration with mobile devices, computers, and cloud accounts by tying automobiles to consumers' digital life. The firm says "intuitive voice assistants, immersive map experiences, and real-time updates" will predict driver demands.

Qualcomm demonstrated how future cars may employ autonomous driving technologies to solve parking problems. The artificial intelligence may locate parking on its own and drop off people at their location.

"Absolutely, so the platform is actually capable of supporting really any ecosystem, any configuration, any solution that is out there," Nakul Duggal, director of automotive for Qualcomm, said, addressing Apple's CarPlay's fit with the new platform. "I can bet you if you're driving a car today that you bought in the last couple of years, it's featuring our technology," Duggal said.
