Retail investors who have a significant stake must be disappointed along with institutions after Hut 8 Corp.'s (NASDAQ:HUT) market cap dropped by US$112m

That catches my attention because hedge funds sometimes try to influence management, or bring about changes that will create near term value for shareholders. Coatue Management, L.L.C. is currently the largest shareholder, with 10% of shares outstanding. Michael Ho is the second largest shareholder owning 7.0% of common stock, and Asher Genoot holds about 3.4% of the company stock. Note that the second and third-largest shareholders are also Top Key Executive and Member of the Board of Directors, respectively, meaning that the company's top shareholders are insiders.

While studying institutional ownership for a company can add value to your research, it is also a good practice to research analyst recommendations to get a deeper understand of a stock's expected performance.
