Scaramucci to Republicans: Take Trump out 'and put a relief pitcher in'
It’s no secret that former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci is no longer a fan of President Donald Trump. ‘The Mooch’ as he’s sometimes referred to, has gone on a tear in recent months, eagerly voicing his criticism of Trump on everything from policy to his behavior in the Oval Office.
“He’s unfortunately unhinging. He’s in steady decline. He’s having a hard time pronouncing people’s names. He was calling Mike Pence ‘Mike Pounce’ last night. He’s an angry guy and he’s isolating himself from his staff,” Scaramucci told Yahoo Finance, referring to a speech in Baltimore where the president mistakenly referred to Vice President Mike Pence as Mike Pounce. And to no one’s surprise, #MikePounce was trending on Twitter by the end of the evening.

Scaramucci floated the idea that the Republican leadership should replace the president as the party’s nominee in 2020, telling Yahoo Finance’s On the Move, “If he’s the nominee, Senator McConnell and Donald Trump are Thelma and Louise driving the GOP off the cliff.”
“I’m calling on my fellow Republicans: let’s take him out and put a good relief pitcher in. Let’s go with the policies that work and let’s get rid of the nonsense. Same policies, less crazy,” he said.
Although it is rare for a one-term president not to seek reelection, it isn’t unheard of. Scaramucci compares Trump to former President Lyndon Johnson, who famously withdrew his name from the ballot in March 1968.
“Senator McConnell has to go to him and say ‘look it’s not working, obviously something is wrong here, they’re moving to impeach you... you’ve got to leave,” said Scaramucci. “You don’t have to resign right now, but just finish the term and say you’ve made America great, but you’re not running again like Lyndon Johnson said in 1968.”
