UK oil and gas major Shell has entered into a long-term framework agreement with L&T Technology Services (LTTS), an Indian company offering engineering and digital services.

Under the alliance, LTTS will provide Shell with integrated engineering and procurement services.

The technology vendor will also offer digital engineering services, data governance for capital projects and digital project management consultancy across Shell’s global assets.

L&T Technology Services CEO and managing director Amit Chadha said: “This new agreement with Shell as their engineering partner further builds on our long and continuous relationship in the area of information management and allied engineering services. With our extensive experience and capabilities in serving energy sector clients, we are excited to work with Shell and contribute in achieving their strategic objectives.”

In December 2023, bp joined forces with LTTS for engineering services to enhance its operational performance.

Shell’s agreement with LTTS comes shortly after its joint venture with PetroChina initiated Phase 2 of the Surat Gas Project in Queensland, Australia.

The Surat Gas Project's expansion is part of a larger initiative expected to yield more than 4,000 petajoules of gas over its lifetime, with the potential use of up to 2,500 gas wells.

Additionally, last month, Shell agreed to acquire a 10% stake in the ADNOC Ruwais liquified natural gas (LNG) project.

As part of this agreement, ADNOC also secured a long-term LNG sales agreement to deliver one million tonnes per annum to Shell.

Furthermore, Shell Trinidad and Tobago, a subsidiary of the British energy giant, recently made the final investment decision on the Manatee gas field.

Production at Manatee is due to begin in 2027, with an expected maximum production level of approximately 104,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
