Apple (AAPL) experienced the slowest growth of iPhone sales in the fourth quarter of 2015 since 2007, when the phone first came to market. Though the company did beat earnings estimates by 5 cents, revenue was below forecasts and shares traded sharply lower Wednesday. Robinhood, the free stock trading app, mined its investing data from nearly 1 million users and $2 billion in total transactions to learn about the “typical” Apple investor (insofar as there is one), though it’s safe to say he or she is probably not in bright spirits today.

Apple is actually the most popular stock on the platform. The average Robinhood portfolio has 9.8% of assets in Apple. And the average Apple shareholder at Robinhood has 30.4% of their portfolio in the stock.

Apple investors are more likely to own shares of other hot stocks like Netflix (NFLX) (2.6 times as likely) and Tesla (TSLA) (2.7 times more likely) than the average Robinhood investor. They are also 3.3 times more likely to own Google (GOOGL), 2.8 times more likely to own Facebook (FB), 2.8 times more likely to own Amazon (AMZN), 2.6 times more likely to own Disney (DIS), and 2.4 times likelier to own shares of Starbucks (SBUX). We’re seeing a common thread here -- Apple investors seem to have an appetite for holding shares in consumer-facing household names (perhaps tied to an Amazon Prime addiction or aspirations to own a Tesla).

Robinhood also looked at regional differences among Apple investors. The stock is most popular -- where 20%+ of Robinhood investors own shares of Apple -- in California, Washington, New York and Maine. It’s less in favor (less than 12% of Robinhood investors) in Oklahoma, Montana, Arkansas and Kentucky.
