Stocks close lower, 2024 candidates eye jobs report: Market Domination Overtime

It was a rough day for the stock market. All three of the major indexes (^DJI,^GSPC, ^IXIC) closed in the red, with the Nasdaq composite down 2.5%. The big drag on stocks was the August jobs report. The US economy added 142,000 jobs last month, far short of the 165,000 Wall Street was anticipating, but it was also likely strong enough to keep the Federal Reserve from cutting by 50 basis points at its September meeting.
