Stocks start September lower: Morning Brief

In This Article:

September is off to a rocky start for Wall Street. All three of the major indexes (^DJI,^GSPC, ^IXIC) opened lower as investors eagerly await the August employment report, which will be released on Friday. Investors are betting the report will help the Federal Reserve to decide whether to cut by 25 or 50 basis points at its September meeting.

On Tuesday's Morning Brief, Crossmark Global Investments chief market strategist Victoria Fernandez warns investors about the potential for a broader market pullback and Fundstrat vice president of digital asset strategy Sean Farrell discusses how September tends to be a bad month for bitcoin (BTC-USD).

Meanwhile, anchors Brad Smith and Madison Mills take a look at some of the biggest stock movers of the morning, including Boeing (BA), Tesla (TSLA), and Southwest Airlines (LUV).
