Trump's US chip policy is still unclear post debate: Expert

Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump's presidential debate Tuesday covered a wide range of national issues, including policies for the US chip industry. To provide insight on this matter, Brookings Institution Senior Fellow in Governance Studies and Washington Post columnist E.J. Dionne joins Morning Brief.

Dionne highlights the Biden administration's significant investments in domestic technology, particularly in the semiconductor sector, noting that these efforts have had "Harris's support." He suggests that a Harris victory would likely mean a continuation of this policy direction.

Regarding Trump's stance, Dionne told Yahoo Finance, "On Trump it's hard to say from his answer, because again I think that clip was revealing in the sense that Trump was moved again on the defense and then he tried to flip it to a general attack on Harris. And I think that was his problem all night."
