Harris will deliver new econ policies as 'sentiments' at DNC

The Democratic National Convention (DNC) opens on Monday in Chicago, starting what will be a big week for the Harris campaign. Vice President Kamala Harris has been the presumed Democratic nominee, and she has already named her running mate — Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D-Mn.) — and laid out parts of her economic agenda in a speech last week.

President Biden begins the first night of the convention with a speech that will officially pass the torch to Harris in her own presidential bid against former President Donald Trump.

Catalysts welcomes on Lincoln Project founder and host of The Warning podcast Steve Schmidt to talk more about what Vice President Harris and her supporters will touch on in their speeches, and if Harris's candidacy can sway any Trump voters with less than 80 days until the 2024 election.

"The president will seek to encompass the Harris campaign as really an extension of his unfinished campaign, his presidency, and then the rest of the week will be the next generation moving past all of this," Schmidt explains.

Among voter bases, Schmidt says "there is not much swaying to be done" from Trump voters, but does outline the surge in voting interest from various demographics and younger voters in key swing states.
