Marriott signs agreement to bring back Ritz-Carlton to Cancun
Marriott International has signed agreement with FibraHotel, Fibra Danhos and Beyond Ventures to launch a Ritz-Carlton property in Cancun, Punta Nizuc of Mexico.
This deal will bring back The Ritz-Carlton brand to Cancun after its exit in late 2022.
The project, expected to open in 2027, will feature a 131-key luxury hotel and 126 branded residences.
The hotel will be developed and owned via a joint venture between FibraHotel and Fibra Danhos. To be located in a LEED-certified building, the 126 branded residences will be developed by Beyond Ventures.
This project will include an oceanfront pool complex, a spa, six gourmet restaurants, and residential amenities, all serviced by The Ritz-Carlton.
The design of the project has been entrusted to the architectural firms of Lissoni and Partners and Cherem Arquitectos.
Marriott International president of Caribbean & Latin America (CALA) Brian King said: "As one of the most important tourist destinations in Mexico and Latin America, Cancun and the Riviera Maya attract nearly 30 million visitors each year, drawn by stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, and rich cultural experiences. While this property is conveniently located 10 minutes from the airport, it feels a world away.”
A joint statement by the development partners stated: "We are extremely proud to announce this joint venture between FibraHotel, Fibra Danhos, and Beyond Ventures. Together, we are shaping the future of luxury hospitality and residential experiences in Cancun.
“Our investment is a testament to Cancun's growing potential, introducing visitors and residents to the vibrant culture, natural beauty, and renowned hospitality that Mexico has to offer. Whether for a vacation or as a second home, The Ritz-Carlton, Cancun, Punta Nizuc will redefine luxury living and hospitality in the region."
In September 2024, The Ritz-Carlton brand opened a luxury hotel in Morocco, The Ritz-Carlton Rabat, Dar Es Salam.
Located within 440 hectares of forest and gardens, the hotel features three golf courses with 45 holes. It has 100 guest rooms and 17 suites, each accompanied with a private terrace.
